FRESNO, Calif. - Four Fresno State Bulldogs scored in double figures, but California got five players in double figures and shot 64 percent from the floor on its way to an 82-66 victory at the North Gym. The Bulldogs fall to 3-3 on the season while the Bears improve to 3-2.
The star of the game for the Bears was guard Kenya Corley, who scored a career-high 19 points on 8 for 9 shooting from the field. Ami Forney added 17. Cal also got 13 from Lauren Ashbaugh, 11 from Paige Bowie and 10 from Masa Radovic.
For the Bulldogs, Amanda Baker (Jr., Porterville, Calif.) scored a career-high 20 points. Tiffany Lewis (Sr., Inglewood, Calif.) also added her third double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Lindsay Logan (Fr., Sandy, Utah) and Laura Garcia (Fr., Fresno, Calif.) added 11 points each.
While Fresno State had its best first half shooting percentage of the season at 54 percent, it wasn't enough to match California, which came out on fire. The Bears shot 69 percent in the first half and ended up shooting 64 percent from the field.
Already down to only seven available players, Fresno State had only five players healthy for the game. Garcia has been suffering from the flu all week and Porsha Boyd (Jr., Carson, Calif.) had migrane headaches. Midway through the first half, Lewis mildly sprained her ankle and had to receive treatment. She returned later in the half.
Fresno State returns to action Wednesday when it travels to take on the University of San Diego at 7:30 p.m.
