Gravatt Swims in Consolation Final at NCAA Meet

Fresno, Calif. - Senior Holly Gravatt (Valinda, Calif.) finished her Bulldog swimming career with a 16th-place finish in the 200 breast at the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. today. For her finish Gravatt is named an honorable mention All-American. It is the fourth time in her career that she has been an All-American selection. In 1998 and 1996 she was an All-American after finishing eighth and seventh, respectively, in the 200 breast. In 1997 she was an honorable mention All-American selection with a 15th-place finish in the same event.
In the preliminary rounds Gravatt swam the 200 breast in a time of 2:13.74, coming in 12th. With the top eight advancing to the finals, Gravatt swam in the consolation finals on her way to a 16th place finish in a time of 2:18.33. The winner of the event was Georgias Kristy Kowal who set a new NCAA and American record with a time of 2:07.66.
Gravatt finishes her career at Fresno State as the school record holder in the 100 and 200 breast, as well as the 200 individual medley. Gravatt broke her own school record in the 100 breast (1:03.12) at last months WAC Championships where she finished second in both the 100 and 200. This season she led the team with 24 first-place finishes and had all five of the teams top times in the 100 and 200 breast this season.
