HONOLULU (AP) - Willie Farley scored 10 of his 15 points during a big second half run Saturday night that lifted Fresno St. to an 83-71 victory over Hawaii.
Until Farley's push, the Bulldogs (20-10, 9-5 Western Athletic Conference) struggled against the lowly Rainbows (6-20, 3-11), who led by eight points, 57-49, with 13:24 left.
The win gave Fresno St. its fourth straight 20-victory season. For Hawaii, it went from consecutive 20-plus victory seasons to a 20-loss campaign.
The win also puts Fresno St. in Tuesday's WAC playoffs in Las Vegas against Colorado St.
Courtney Alexander, who finished with 26 points after averaging 36 points in his last two games, started a 14-0 run that gave Fresno St. the lead, 63-57, but Hawaii went on a 7-0 run of its own to make it a 2-point game.
It was Alexander again who kicked off a 9-0 run which put the Bulldogs comfortably ahead.
During the two runs, Farley knocked in a pair of 3-pointers.
The Rainbows jumped off to a surprising 41-35 halftime lead with Mike Robinson knocking in 13 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Seldom-used Geremy Robinson added seven points including a 3-pointer to close the half.
Mike Robinson finished with 23 points and 15 boards.
Hawaii played without its leading scorer Marquette Alexander, who was suspended after being ejected from Thursday's game against San Jose St. It was the third time this season he had been thrown out.
