FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Chris Herren scored 28 points to lead Fresno State to a 91-74 victory against Pacific on Monday night.
Herren scored 20 of his points in the second half and made five of eight 3-pointers. Courtney Alexander added 21 for Fresno State (5-4).
Clay McKnight had a career-high 31 points for Pacific (4-1) and kept the Tigers in the game with nine of 13 3-point attempts.
Fresno State, after trailing most of the first half, rallied to score 16 straight points in the final six minutes for a 44-33 halftime lead.
Pacific cut the lead to six points in the first four minutes of the second half but Herren sparked a 10-point Fresno run, scoring eight of the points for a 59-43 lead with 15:20 left in the game. Pacific never got closer than 11 points the rest of the game.
Melvin Ely added 13 for Fresno, all in the first half, and Randy Holcomb came off the bench to add 12 points. Scott Thomason had 14 for Pacific.
Pacific used a flurry of three-point baskets in the first half to take a 12-4 lead. Fresno State battled back to tie the game at 17 but Pacific came back and led 33-28 with just under five minutes left in the half.
