Men's Basketball Falls to Minnesota, 77-65

FRESNO, Calif. - Kevin Clark scored 29 points to lead Minnesota to a 77-65 non-conference victory over Fresno State on Friday night.
Minnesota (5-0) took control of the game with a 13-4 run midway through the second half. Clark scored seven in that stretch, giving the Gophers a 62-55 lead.
Fresno State (4-4) cut the lead to three points with 5:45 left in the game, but Clark buried a three-pointer and Fresno never got closer than five the rest of the game.
Chris Herren led Fresno State with 22 points and Courtney Alexander added 18. Fresno State struggled with its shooting, making just 28 percent from the field for the game.
Quincy Lewis added 22 for the Gophers. Center Joel Przybilla, who scored just eight points, held Fresno State center Melvin Ely to none and blocked 10 shots in the game. Ely came into the game averaging 17 points a game.
Minnesota, after trailing 37-36 at halftime, opened the second half with a 10-2 run to take a 46-39 lead. But Fresno State regained the lead with nine straight points, six from Herren.
Lewis' three-pointer gave Minnesota the lead again, but Herren followed with a layup, giving the Bulldogs their final lead of the night at 50-49.
Minnesota took an 11-5 lead early in the first half after a pair of threes by Clark and Kyle Sanden. But Fresno State responded with a 14-2 run over the next three minutes.
Demetruis Porter, who scored all 10 of his points in the first half, scored six in that run and Alexander added four.
Minnesota battled back to take a 27-26 lead with five minutes left in the half, only to have Fresno State rally for the lead at halftime.
