Men's Hoops Falls to Texas-El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Eggie McRae scored 16 points, leading Texas-El Paso to a 73-62 victory Thursday night over Fresno State.
The Miners (15-8, 7-3 Western Athletic) took over second place in the Pacific Division and dropped the Bulldogs (17-8, 6-3) to third place.
McRae also had eight assists and six rebounds.
Willie Farley led Fresno State with 20 points and nine rebounds, and Courtney Alexander had 18 points.
UTEP led at the half, 35-33.
Fresno State came into the game averaging 81 points a game, but hit only 38 percent of its field goal attempts (24 of 62). UTEP hit 53 percent (26 of 49).
In the game between teams coached by two of college basketball's winningest coaches, Don Haskins of UTEP won his 718th game while Fresno's Jerry Tarkanian remains at 706.
