Fresno State Volleyball Extends Win Streak

San Francisco, Calif. - With a modest two-match win streak, Fresno State needed just 57 minutes to sweep Penn (15-10, 15-6, 15-5) in the first meeting ever between the two schools in the Ninth Annual USF/Golden Gate Classic. The Bulldogs, who recorded 12.5 blocks to their opponent's 2.0, was led by senior OH Anamie Buckelew (8 kills, 11 digs, 6 TB), freshman MB Lindsay Closs (9 kills, 8 digs, 5 TB) and sophomore MB Shauna McQuaid (8 kills, 6 digs, 6 TB). In the match, McQuaid hit a match-high .500 (8-1-14) and Buckelew (8-1-18) and Closs (9-2-18) both hit .389. Fresno State will meet host San Francisco this evening at 7:00 pm to close out tournament play. The Bulldogs will be looking for their first tournament title of the year. Fresno State did capture the USF/Golden Gate Classic title in 1997.
