Cross Country's Men Third, Women Eighth at WAC Championships

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's cross country teams competed at the WAC Championships in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, Oct. 28. The men finished third overall and the women were eighth.
The men's team was led by three sophomores. Robert Vaca (Parlier, Calif.) finished sixth overall with a season-best time of 25:50. Josh Roddy (Manteca, Calif.), who had finished first among Bulldog runners all season, was the second Fresno State runner to cross the finish line with a time of 26:18 and a solid 8th place finish overall. Philip Ogilvie (Clarksburg, Calif.), last season's WAC Freshman of the Year, came in 11th overall with a season-best time of 26:35.
The women, running in a 5,000 meter race, were led by Michelle June (So., Santa Maria, Calif.) who placed 21st overall with a time of 19:17. Stacy Esquivel (Jr., Visalia, Calif.) finished 28th with a time of 19:32. She was followed Kara June (Fr., Santa Maria, Calif.) in 29th place with a time of 19:34.
The Bulldogs will next compete in the NCAA District 9 Regional Championships that will be hosted by Fresno State at Woodward Park.
