Denver, Colo. - The Bulldogs (7-3-1) fell to the Pioneers of Denver (5-3-0) this Sunday, Oct. 8, with a score of 2-1. The loss marked the second-straight for the `Dogs as they opened up conference play. Their conference record now stands at 0-2-0.
Fresno State played an incredibly offensive match by producing 14 shots from 10 different players. Unfortunately, the team only managed to put one past Denver goalkeeer Parker Jarvis. Jarvis stopped six shots, allowing only a penalty kick by the Bulldogs' sophomore midfielder Kupono Low (Fremont, Calif.) to slip by. Low was awarded the penalty kick in the 86th minute after teammate junior midfielder Noah Delgado (Fremont, Calif.) was fouled in the box. Fresno State sophomore netminder Jeremy Proud (Auburn, Wash.) finished with three saves on five attempts. In addition, midfielder Makoto Anderson (Fresno, Calif.) tallied three shots, two of them on goal.
The Bulldogs look to avenge the opening losses with a win at home this Thursday, Oct. 12, versus San Jose State at 7 p.m.
