#7 Bulldog Softball Doubleheader Against Baylor Called Off

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's doubleheader against Baylor was postponed from last night until this evening Wednesday, March 8, due to rain but the storm front has continued to play havoc with the Bulldogs as the games tonight have also been scratched.
KFIG/ESPN 1430 AM, home to the Fresno State women's sports, will begin live broadcast of Fresno State softball game via the world wide web on Saturday, March 11. Fans can go to www.espn1430.com and click on the broadcast icon to hear all the Bulldog softball games. On March 11, Fresno State will battle Florida State at 1 pm and Cal Poly at 3 pm before closing out the Hallowell Chevrolet Classic with #3 UCLA on Sunday, March 12, at 3 pm.
Fresno State, ranked seventh in this morning's USA Today/NFCA Coaches Top 25 poll (March 8), will host the 2000 Hallowell Chevrolet Classic beginning tomorrow, March 9 and running through Sunday, March 12. The four-day seven-team tournament field features Cal Poly, Fresno State, Florida State, Illinois State, Ole Miss, Texas Tech and UCLA. For schedule and/or ticket information, call (559) 278-DOGS.
Considered as one of the premier pitchers on the collegiate level, senior RHP Amanda Scott posted a 4-0 overall record, 3-0 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, and collected four shutouts and two no-hitters in 32.0 innings of work. For the week, Scott scattered four hits, walked four and struck out 39 as opponent's batted .042 against her. In the doubleheader against UC Santa Barbara, she gave up three hits and struck out eight in the opener against the Gauchos. In the NFCA Leadoff Classic, Scott made three starts and gave up just one hit and no runs. She walked four and struck out 31 for a 0.00 ERA in 25.0 innings with opponent's batting a paltry .014 against her as all three wins came via shutouts, including two no-hitters. In the tourney opener against Florida State, Scott pitched her second no-hitter on the year and fifth in her career (No. 50 in the program's history) after walking two and striking out nine. In her start against #14 Michigan in bracket play, Scott went the distance in 11.0 innings of work. She walked two and struck out a season-high 14 batters en route to recording her second straight no-hitter in tournament play and overall while notching her third no-hitter (sixth career no-no) and seventh shutout on the season. Scott became the first Fresno State pitcher to thrown consecutive no-hitters since Lori Romeiro-Gardner in 1984. In the win over #5 Oklahoma in the semifinals, Scott tossed her third one-hitter on the year and recorded her eighth shutout on the season after walking none and striking out eight. Selected to the NFCA Leadoff Classic all-tournament team, she posted a streak of 19.0 hitless innings in tournament play. In addition, Scott has pitched all three extra inning games for the Bulldogs and is 2-1 in those contests (W 1-0 vs. #15 Long Beach State, 10 inn., L 5-2 vs. #1 UCLA, 8 inn., & W 1-0 vs. #14 Michigan, 11 inn.)
