Bauer Second After Day One of Fresno State Easter Heptathlon

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Rachel Bauer trails Laura Swanson of Occidental College by only 20 points heading into day two of the Fresno State Easter Decathlon/Heptathlon at Warmerdam Field.
Swanson won the high jump and finished second in the shot put on her way to 2,450 points. Bauer was stellar in the 100-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash, in which she was victorious. She ended the day with 2,430 points. Bauer notched a 16.17 in the 100 to edge out teammate Brooke Lankard, who had a 16.38. In the 200, Bauer posted a 27.58, a full second faster than the second place Swanson.
Another Bulldog, Jamie Thompson is in third place after four events with 1,439 points. She won the shot put with a 10.32-meter throw.
Dallas Neumann of Fresno State rests in fourth with 951 points while Brooke Lankard, who competed only in the 100-meter hurdles, has 668.
Day Two of the event takes place tomorrow at Warmerdam Field at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free.
