Bauer Finishes First in Easter Heptathlon

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Rachel Bauer had a solid performance in the second day of the Fresno State Easter Heptathlon, helping lead her past Occidental's Laura Swanson and to a first place finish in the event, held at Warmerdam Field.
Bauer, who was only 20 points behind Swanson after day one, fell behind by 81 after finishing second in the long jump. But she posted a 33.70-meter throw in the javelin, earning 547 points for a 73-point lead heading into the 800 meters, the final event of the day. In the 800, Bauer was stellar, running a 2:18.63 to garner 842 points and the first place finish in the event, in which she had 4,309 points to Swanson's 3,986.
Fresno State's Jamie Thompson placed third with 2,741. Dallas Neumann was fourth with 1,763.
