Major League Soccer, America's premier professional soccer league, exploded onto the scene in 1996. Sellout crowds and television audiences world-wide have confirmed the success of the league, which is comprised of some of the best players in the world.
According to the May 4, 1998, edition of Soccer America, Fresno State ranked third in the NCAA with five players that have played in at least one game for Major League Soccer teams during the 1998 season. Only UCLA (17) and Virginia (12) have more.

Over the past two years, Fresno State has had two Bulldogs become drafted in the MLS SuperDraft. In 2001, Noah Delgado was drafted in the fourth round to the L.A. Galaxy.
