Men's Soccer defeats Hartford 2-1

Amherst, Mass. - The Bulldogs defeated the Hartford Hawks with a score of 2-1 in their first match of the Umass Tournament.
Senior midfielder Dana McGregor (Arroyo Canyon, Calif.) netted the first of his two-goal performance of the evening by scoring the opening goal of the match. Midway through the first half, McGregor slipped the ball past Hartford goalkeeper Christopher Doyle and placed it in the bottom left corner. Less than one minute later, the Hawks evened the score at one when defenseman Christoffer Hartman was awarded a penalty kick after a Fresno State foul in the box. The score remained at one-all until the 83-minute mark when McGregor netted the game-winning goal off of a touch by junior midfielder Noah Delgado (Fremont, Calif.). Sophomore goalkeeper Jeremy Proud (Auburn, Wash.) finished the match with six saves on six attempts.
The Bulldogs improve to 5-1 overall and will go for heir third-straight win on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m., when they take the field against the University of Massachusetts.
