Maddox Named WAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

DENVER - Fresno State guard Tito Maddox has been named the Western Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week.
Maddox, a freshman from Compton, Calif. (Compton HS), scored 16 points, dished out nine assists, grabbed eight rebounds, had five steals and blocked a shot in Fresno State's 108-56 win over UTEP on Thursday. Maddox played just 27 minutes, sitting for the final 11 minutes of the game, and was 6-of-11 from the field. He also keyed the Bulldogs' defense by helping to hold the Miners to 30 points below their average. The 52-point win was Fresno State's largest since 1959. The Bulldogs currently have a 13-game winning streak, the second longest in the nation.
Other nominations included: senior forward Richard Stirgus, Nevada, senior guard Mike Garrett, San Jose State, senior guard Jeryl Sasser, SMU, junior guard Greedy Daniels, TCU, and junior guard Greg Harrington, Tulsa.
