Golf Team is Fourth at Bakersfield

FRESNO, Calif. - The Golf team played in the Roadrunner Invitational
(Bakersfield) today at the Stockdale Country Club. The Greens are small and will be rolling 10.5 -11 on the Stimp. The course record is 63 and is a Par 71. The course rating is 70.6 and the slope is 121. The course is 6,410 yards. The team will played 36 holes on Monday and will play 18 holes on Tuesday.
Fresno State finished in fourth place after two rounds of play today. The team total after two rounds is 592. The team was in 10th place after the first round of play this morning but was able to move up after the afternoon round.
"This may not be the toughest field of the year but it is an opportunity for these Bulldogs to show that they deserve to be in the startng lineup," said Head Coach Mike Watney.
The current leader in the tournament is UC Riverside with a total score of 572 (+4). CSU Bakersfield is in second place with 575 (+7). The third place team is CSU Northridge with a total score of 589 (+21).
Freshman Ian Nelson is in 10th place with a score of 74-71-145. Ryan Carter (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) was tied for 21st with Sophomore Tony Harmon (Upland, Calif.). Carter shot a 66-72-148. Harmon shot a 77-71-148. Sophomore Eric Witherall (Carlsbad, Calif.) placed 42nd with a score of 76-76-152. George McKean placed 58th with a score of 81-75-156.
