#11 Softball Drops Extra Inning Game

STOCKTON, Calif. - No. 11 Fresno State had its five-game win streak snapped with a tough nine-inning loss to No. 22 Pacific as the Tigers pulled out a 2-1 victory.
Freshman LHP/DP Lori Hoffman (5-4) took the loss after coming in relief for sophomore right-hander Lindsay Foster who pitched 1.1 innings. Foster allowed four hits, walked one and surrendered a run before handing the ball over to Hoffman in the second inning. Hoffman, who tossed 7.1 innings, gave up seven hits, walked one and allowed one run.
With both teams playing their first extra inning game on the season, Pacific got on the scoreboard first with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Estee Okumura led the inning off with a single down the left field line. Foster got the next batter out on a groundout as Okumura advanced to second base. Kelly Lowry hit a ball deep into the five-six hole by Alicia Dowland was able to stop the ball going into left field to save a run. With runners on first and third, Erica Reynolds knocked in Okumura with a single into right field. After giving up that run, Foster was pulled for Hoffman who would end up pitching scoreless ball for 7.1 innings before UOP won the contest.
Hoffman tied the game for the Bulldogs after connecting for her first collegiate home run with a solo shot over the right field fence in the top of the fourth.
On two outs in the bottom of the ninth and a runner on second, Pacific's Adrienne Ratajczack got a RBI single to left field to score the winning run.
Fresno State scored a run on five hits while Pacific scored two runs on 11 hits with one error and 11 left on base.
