FRESNO, Calif. - In the wake of the tragic events in New York City and Washington D.C., Fresno State Interim Athletics Director Scott Johnson has announced that weekend athletics events have either been postponed or cancelled.
"In light of information we have received this morning, we believe it is in the best interest of our student-athletes and fans that we postpone all events planned for this weekend," Johnson said. "We made a decision yesterday to play based on President Bush's wishes for a return to normalcy, however after discussions with our fellow WAC members, we will halt all activities planned for this weekend. We will stand with our WAC brethen, plus NFL and Major League Baseball, which have suspended all weekend activities. We expect to return to a full schedule of activities beginning Monday."
