Kristen Fenton led the 'Dogs and had a match-high 10 kills after missing the last two matches due to a death in her family. Carrie Hartt was next with nine while hitting .571 (9-1-14) with five blocks. Christy Burnett led all players with 11 digs. For BSU, Joy Baldwin had seven kills. Overall as a team, Fresno State hit .281 (38-13-89) with 10 service aces, 43 digs and 11 total blocks. BSU hit -.083 (26-35-109) with one service ace, 34 digs and one block.

Match Notes:
Boise State, which is 1-3 at home this season, begins a four-match homestand this evening when the Broncos host Fresno State. BSU will entertain No. 12 Hawai'i on Saturday before closing out its home slate with Nevada and San Jose State. The Broncos, who opened the season with a 0-15 worksheet, are 1-3 in their last four matches. Their win came against Louisiana Tech, 3-0, at home on Oct. 13. Sophomore outside hitter Megan Tranter currently leads Boise State in kills (190) and is averaging 3.06 kills per game. Sophomore Jacqueline Heler is the team's top dig leader (216) for a 3.66 dig per game average. Freshman Jessica McDonald is tops for BSU in blocking with 52 total blocks for a 0.91 block per game average. Fresno State, which has won 12 of its last 16, wraps up its 2001 schedule on the road with stops at Boise State this evening, San Jose State on Saturday and No. 12 Hawai'i on Nov. 9. The Bulldogs, who went 10-2 at home, will look to add to their success away from home by improving on a 2-5 road record. Senior middle blocker Shauna McQuaid, who has led the WAC in hitting in six of the last eight weeks, continues her national presence in blocking. McQuaid has been ranked among the nation's best in blocking for the last six weeks and currently stands in at No. 27 with a 1.45 block per game average. McQuaid also leads the team in kills (258), kills per game (4.03), hitting (.303), block solos (19), block assists (75), total blocks (94). With 928 career kills, she enters tonight's match 72 shy of collecting 1,000 career kills. The hottest hitting in the last eight matches for the Bulldogs is junior middle blocker Java Johnson, who is hitting .361 (60-17-119) with 30 blocks (1.15 bpg). Last week, Junior outside hitter Christy Burnett dished up a career-high five service aces in the win over CS Northridge while picking up her third career 20-kill match after tallying a team- and season-high 21 kills in the loss to San Jose State. One of four Bulldogs to post a double-double, Burnett also had a match-high 19 digs while hitting .313 (21-6-48) against the Spartans. In the series, Fresno State and Boise State are meeting for the fifth time overall. Fresno State and BSU opened Western Athletic Conference play against each other on Sept. 22. With a 5-0 series advantage, the Bulldogs notched a sweep in their WAC opener.
