Men Take Ninth at Stanford Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's cross country team took ninth place with 297 points in the 8K race at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., on Saturday, Sept. 29. Stanford, ranked second in the nation, captured first place in the 8K with 30 points.
Junior Roosevelt Cook (Oakhills, Calif.) came in first for the Bulldogs. He placed 37th overall with a time of 26:17. Junior Roberto Vaca (Sanger, Calif.) came in next on the team, taking 57th place with a time of 26:44.
Junior Philip Ogilvie (Clarksburg, Calif.) and Josh Roddy (Manteca, Calif.) came in 67th and 68th, respectively. Ogilvie finished with a time of 26:57 and Roddy came in at 26:58.
The fifth scorer for the Bulldogs was junior Moses Avila (Reedley, Calif.) who came in 97th with a time of 27:40. Senior Thiago Ghilardi (Sao Paulo, Brazil) took 113th with a time of 28:12.
A total of 198 men and 28 teams competed in the 8K race. The Bulldogs also entered eight men in the 8K non-scoring race. The Bulldogs fastest finisher was Sophomore Curtis Barela (Hinkley, Calif.) who placed 44th with a time of 27:45.
The men's cross country team returns to action Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Louis Obispo, Calif.
