CORVALLIS, Ore. - Fresno State junior Jeremiah LeRoy broke a scoreless tie with an unassisted goal in the 17th minute of the game but it would not be enough as Oregon State would score five unanswered goals en route to a 5-1 victory over the Bulldogs Sunday, at Paul Lorenz Field.
LeRoy's goal snapped a streak of three consecutive scoreless matches for Fresno State and was the first since LeRoy's brother Josh booted one home in the 38th minute at UCLA, October 13.
Oregon State junior forward Alan Gordon tied the game with a header into the net in the 19th minute. Beavers freshman midfielder Joe Zaher broke the 1-1 tie with a cross to the far post in the 58th minute that began a string of four OSU goals in a little under 17 minutes to put the match out of reach.
The five goals are the most allowed by the Bulldogs this season and the four goal differential marked the largest margin of defeat this year.
Bulldog senior midfielder Kupono Low led Fresno State with four shots including one shot on goal.
Fresno State will welcome Oregon State to Bulldog Stadium Friday, November 1, at 7 p.m. PST, and then play host to conference rival Washington on Sunday, November 3, at 2 p.m. PST.
