Head Coach Lindy Vivas
In her 12th season as head coach of the Bulldog volleyball program, Lindy Vivas (UCLA, 1980) was honored with her third WAC Coach of the Year honor after being selected in 1992 and 1997. Leading the Bulldog volleyball program to its 450th win in the five-game decision over Rice in the quarterfinal round of the WAC Volleyball Championship last year, she notched her 100th home court victory against the Owls on Oct. 14, 2002. Vivas has directed the 'Dogs to five postseason appearances while leading Fresno State to seven 20-win campaigns. The three-time WAC Coach of the Year honoree has led the Bulldogs to two NCAA Tournament showings (1991, 1998) and three NIVC appearances (1995-94-92) since her arrival in 1991. Averaging 19 wins a year with a 104-49 (.680) home court record and a 58-28 (.674) WAC mark at home, Vivas has coached three all-region/all-district and 24 all-WAC picks (27 overall). Vivas, who has led the 'Dogs to all five WAC Volleyball Tournaments (1996-98, 2001-02), owns a 16-year career record of 299-206 (.592) and a 12-year school record of 227-146 (.609).

With 12 first team and 12 second team all-Western Athletic Conference teams being selected by the league's coaches, the Fresno State volleyball team had five all-WAC picks - the second-most selected - and the WAC's Coach of the Year honoree in Vivas. Four Bulldogs were named first team in Arena, Fenton, Hartt and senior middle blocker Java Johnson (Fresno, Calif.). Second team accolades went to senior outside hitter Christy Burnett (Fallbrook, Calif.). Vivas garnered her third WAC Coach of the Year honor after being named in 1992 and 1997. Under her tutelage, she has coached 24 all-WAC players and 27 all-conference picks overall. The 2002 Fresno State volleyball team also sets a new record for most all-conference selections with five in a season.
