FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State junior Jeremiah LeRoy snapped a 2-2 tie with a goal in the 72nd minute of the match as the Bulldogs defeated Washington, 3-2, Sunday at Bulldog Stadium.
The three goals mark a season high for Fresno State and ties for the most allowed by UW this year (third time).
FS opened the scoring as senior Makoto Anderson scored off a cross from freshman Marvin Sorto in the second minute of the match. The Huskies evened the contest in the 32nd minute on freshman Kevin Murray's deflection into the net off a cross from freshman Mike Chabala. Senior Kupono Low sent Fresno State into halftime with a 2-1 lead on his team leading third goal of the season in the 45th minute. UW answered in the 51st minute on senior Kyle Fukuchi's ten-yard kick to the back of the net, tying the match at 2-2.
Bulldog senior goalkeeper Jeremy Proud tallied two saves while Washington goalie Daniel Waltman posted four stops on the day.
Fresno State out-shot the Huskies, 14-9, led by Low and junior Joshua LeRoy who each registered three shots with two on goal. With the win over Oregon State, 1-0, on Friday, the Bulldogs now have a season high tying two match winning streak.
The Bulldogs return to action next weekend when they travel to the Bay Area to play Stanford on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. PST, and California on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. PST.
