Rasmussen to Transfer from Men's Basketball Team

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State men's basketball coach Ray Lopes has announced sophomore guard Phil Rasmussen will leave the Bulldogs and transfer to another program, effective immediately.

"After several meetings discussing his role in our program, both Phil and I agreed that it would be in his best competitive interests for him to transfer," Lopes said. "Phil has been an integral part of our being 6-1 at this point, and our entire team and coaching staff thoroughly enjoyed having him as a part of our program. We are sorry to see him leave and wish him the very best for his future."

A Sacramento, Calif, native, Rasmussen had not seen any time through the Bulldogs' first seven games this year. He played in 14 games in 2001-02, all off the bench, and averaged 0.9 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.
