No. 9 Women's Tennis Wins Consolation Match

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs defeated No. 18 Oklahoma State 6-1 in the consolation round of the ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championships, being held this weekend in Madison, Wisconsin.
The nationally ranked duo of Kim Niggemeyer and Simone Jardim lost their match against Linda Faltynkova and Katia Kolodynska 8-2, but the Bulldogs still managed to take the doubles point with Chloe Carlotti and Courtney Jantz beating Ashleigh Dolman and Dominika Olszewska 8-3 and Kelly Ramirez and Chantel Wiggins taking down Ines Furtmayr and Katia Vasylyeva 8-2.
In singles, Fresno State lost only one match at the No. 4 position, with Lucia Tallo falling to Vasylyeva 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Niggemeyer defeated Olszewska 6-1, 6-2. Carlotti took down Faltynkova 7-6(5), 7-6(4). At the No. 3 position, Jardim cruised past Kolodynska 6-1, 6-2.
The Bulldogs will play another consolation round tomorrow at 9 a.m. against No. 17 Northwestern, who caused an upset today with their win against No. 7 Southern California 4-3.
