No. 16 Women's Tennis Topples No. 20 Washington

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State won the doubles point with two out of three wins and continued on to win three singles matches to take a close victory over Washington on Friday. Kim Niggemeyer and Simone Jardim, the No. 6 doubles duo in the nation, defeated Clare Carter and Darija Klaic 8-4. Chloe Carlotti and Lucia Tallo also defeated their opponents with a 8-2 win over Colleen Gray and Dea Sumantri. Chantel Wiggins and Courtney Jantz fell to Andrea Coulter and Ilona Kordonskaya 8-5.
In singles, No. 22 Niggemeyer saw an upset as No. 61 Carter took the win in three sets 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. Freshman Carlotti beat out Klaic 6-2, 6-4. Jardim fell to Kordonskaya 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. Tallo had a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Gray, while Wiggins had a close win over Coulter at 7-5, 6-4. At the No. 6 position, Daniela Gheorghe lost to Sumantri 6-1, 6-1.
