FRESNO, Calif. -
As a continuing part of the "S.C.O.R.E." (Soccer, Community Outreach, Responsibility and Education) theme throughout the years, the Fresno State men's soccer team will be holding a special soccer clinic this Saturday, 5-7 p.m. The Bulldogs and coaching staff will run a Special Needs Youth Soccer Jamboree on the practice field, located on the corner of Millbrook and Barstow, to help children ages 5-19 with mental or physical special needs.
The children will have a chance to participate in various skill activities and develop appropriate motor skills taught by players and coaches. The goal is to provide physical activity and development within a "fun" environment.
Participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and are urged to call the men's soccer office in advance to register. Early registration is advised, but walk-ups will be accepted. To register or for information call the men's soccer office at (559) 278-4226 or (559) 278-5435.
Protective shin guards must be worn along with tennis shoes (no cleats). There will be an athletic trainer on site with water being provided.
The men's soccer team will kick off the season at Saint Mary's, Friday, Aug. 30. They will be at home for the alumni game, Sunday, Sept. 1. The regular season home opener will be Friday, Sept. 6, against UC Irvine in the Nike Goal Rush Classic. For Tickets call (559) 278-DOGS or log on to www.gobulldogs.com.
