SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Fresno State (1-9) continued its worse start in program history Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 loss against Cal Poly. The Bulldogs could muster just five shots at Mustang Stadium compared to 21 by the host team. It marked the seventh straight loss for FS and fourth shutout loss this season.
Cal Poly (6-3) were led by Megan Schlegel, who fired five shots and had the first goal of the match. Schlegel gave the Mustangs the 1-0 lead at the 13:27 mark off a rebound by teammate Becky Clark.
It would be the only score Cal Poly needed, holding Fresno State to only two shots on goal. The five shots by the Bulldogs was the lowest output since opening day, when they also had five against Denver. The two shots on goal is the lowest by FS this season.
The Bulldogs' current losing streak is the longest ever by an FS team. The previous longest losing streaks by Fresno State was four, tied last season and set in 2000.
The Bulldogs will open WAC play next weekend, traveling to Rice and Tulsa.
