LAS VEGAS - Fresno State (1-3) was edged 2-1 against UNLV Sunday afternoon at Johan Memorial Field. The Rebels' (3-0-1) accurate shooting was the difference in the match. While both teams fired seven shots, the Rebels shot five on goal while FS shot three on goal.
The Rebels were led by forward Annii Magliulo, who had a goal on three shots with all being on goal.
UNLV's game-winner was scored in the second half of the match by Nickie Olson, who came off the bench to score her second of the season.
The Bulldogs tied the match 1-1 at the 54:10 mark when the duo of freshmen midfielder Kortney Lewis (Visalia, Calif.) and forward Katri Nokso-koivisto (Kokkola, Finland) combined for Lewis' second goal of the season.
Friday, against Southern Utah, Lewis and Nokso-koivisto combined for three of the Bulldogs' four goals.
The Bulldogs' 1-3 start is the worse since 1998, when they also started 1-3. That season Fresno State finished with a 9-10-3 record.
Fresno State returns to action, Friday when it travels to San Diego to take on the Toreadors at 7 p.m.
