Divers Compete At UCLA Invitational

PASADENA, Calif.- Fresno State sophomore McKenzie Elston and freshman Ashleigh Raley were the lone entrants in the 3-meter competition on the first day of the Bruin Diving Invitational at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center on Friday. Both athletes fell just shy of making the first cut, which included only the top-12 competitors.
Elston finished in 18th, checking it at 207.80, while Raley was close behind in 21st at 199.00
USC's Blythe Hartley won the competition with 549.55 combined points. UCLA's Regan Gosnell (488.90) and Stanford's Ashlee Rosenthal (466.25) rounded out the top three placings.
The women's schedule at the Bruin Diving Invitational will continue with the 3-meter (10 am) and platform (3 pm) competitions on Saturday.
This was just the second competition of the season for the Bulldog diving squad, which will square off against Oregon State on Sat., Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. in its next meet.
