Men's Soccer Drops Conference Opener to No. 13 Washington, 2-0

SEATTLE, Wash. - Led by second-half goals from freshmen Ty Harden and Kevin Forrest, No. 13 Washington shut out Fresno State 2-0 in both teams' Pac-10 opener Friday at Husky Soccer Field.
The Huskies improved to 7-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the Pac-10 while the Bulldogs dropped to 3-6-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play.
Harden scored his first collegiate goal on a header off a free kick by junior C.J. Klaas in the 69th minute. Klaas also assisted on the second goal, dishing a give-and-go left-side cross to Forrest who blasted a shot past Fresno State sophomore goalie Eric Kronberg in the 88th minute. The goal was Forrest's third of the season.
Kronberg tallied three saves for the match and UW keeper Danny Waltman registered two stops while recording his second straight shutout and third of the year. The Bulldogs were also held scoreless for the third time this season.
Washington out-shot Fresno State 15-4 led by Klaas' seven. Four Bulldogs each tallied a shot including seniors Mat Herold and Ernie Vega, junior Dan Oka and sophomore Andrew Gregorio.
UW held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks while Fresno State committed 15 fouls to UW's 10.
The Bulldogs wrap up the conference road trip Sunday when they square off against Oregon State at 1 p.m. The Beavers (6-4-0, 0-1-0 Pac-10) lost to second-ranked UCLA 2-1 Friday in Corvallis.
