Men's Soccer Announces Team Awards

FRESNO, Calif. - Senior defender Nino Rivas was named most valuable player at the 2003 Fresno State men's soccer annual awards banquet Friday night at Fresno Indoor Soccer.
A four-year letterwinner, Rivas started all 19 of Fresno State's matches this season and led a defense that recorded a 1.83 goals against average including three shutouts. For his efforts, Rivas was an honorable mention All-Pac-10 selection. The kinesiology-exercise science major also shined in the classroom this year earning second-team Academic All-America and first-team Academic All-District VIII honors. In addition, he was tabbed first-team Academic All-Pac-10 for the second straight year.
The Bulldogs wrapped up the year with a 5-14 overall record and finished fifth in the Pac-10 with a 2-8 mark in conference play.
