EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Terry Pettis scored 19 points to lead Fresno State to a 76-63 victory over UTEP on Thursday night.
The victory kept Fresno State (16-4, 9-2 Western Athletic Conference) at the top of the conference standings, 1.5 games ahead of Nevada, which won at Boise State 67-64.

"I'm happy about getting a road win. That's very important for us," head coach Ray Lopes said. "I just wish we could have played a little harder in the last 10 minutes of the game. We played very well for 30 minutes but had a let down at the end."
UTEP (4-15, 2-8) was led by Omar Duran, who scored 26 points and tied a school record with seven 3-point field goals, 7-12.
John Tofi scored 13 points for the Miners and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Giovanni St. Amant added 12 points.
Fresno State dominated underneath, outrebounding UTEP 39-28.
Fresno State opened the second half with a 16-2 run to push its 37-28 halftime lead to 53-30 with 13:09 left in the game before a spirited Miner run in the final 10 minutes cut the advantage to nine with 56 seconds left.
Next up for the Bulldogs is a game at Boise State on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. PT. The game will be televised by KFRE.
