FRESNO, Calif. - Junior infielder Casey McGehee went 4-4 with three singles and a double to key a 14-hit attack by Fresno State as the Bulldogs defeated Nevada 12-7 in the series finale Sunday at Beiden Field.
The Bulldogs snapped a five-game losing streak to improve to 22-22 overall and 8-10 in the WAC. The win also halted a seven-game skid in conference play. The Wolf Pack dropped to 23-19 overall and 12-5 in the WAC.
McGehee recorded his first four-hit game of the season and extended his hitting streak to a team season high tying nine games. His three RBI over the weekend raises his career total to 122, three short of Ben Reynoso (1993-96) who ranks tenth in school history with 124.
Senior outfielder Scott Beshears (2-5), senior infielder Brian Pierce (2-4), and Brandon Marcelli (2-4) each tallied multi-hit efforts for the Bulldogs. Pierce recorded his second straight two-hit game and doubled twice as the Bulldogs recorded a season high tying five doubles for the game.
