FRESNO, Calif. - Chloe Carlotti received a 9-16 seed at the NCAA Singles Tournament and thus automatically was named All-American this year, the second season in a row she achieved the honor.
A sophomore, Carlotti went 28-7 (19-2 dual) in singles and becomes the first player in program history to become an All-American in singles more than once. Other Fresno State women's tennis All-Americans are: Liesl Fichtbauer (2001), Kim Niggemeyer (2000) and Dora Djilianova (1999).
Carlotti will compete in the NCAA Singles Tournament, which begins Monday. The Parisian will play Liina Suurvarik of Illinois State in the first round.
In doubles, Carlotti, along with partner Lucia Tallo, will participate in the NCAA Doubles Tournament beginning Tuesday. They head into the postseason 19-2 (16-1 dual) and are riding a 13-match winning streak. Carlotti and Tallo will play 5-8 seed Raquel Kops-Jones and Christina Fusano of California in the first round. Kops-Jones/Fusano were the only team to defeat Fresno State's duo during the dual match season.
All individual NCAA Tournament matches will take place at the University of Florida.
