FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State takes on Louisiana Tech on Saturday looking to remain in sole possession of first place in the WAC. The Bulldogs are 7-5, including 3-0 in the WAC for the second year in a row and are in the midst of a five-game winning streak, which ties the longest for all of last season. Tech is currently 7-6 (1-2 WAC) and has lost their last two in a row.
Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series 5-3, although Fresno State has won two of the last three. Few teams can say they've mastered the art of winning in Fresno, but La Tech may be able to boast just that. Tech has won the past two years in Fresno, including last year when they were the only team to beat the Bulldogs at Selland Arena. In fact, Louisiana Tech is one of only three teams (UNLV and Utah are the others) who played at least two games at Selland and had a winning record in the facility.
Fresno State's 54-53 victory over SMU on Thursday improved the team's record to 3-0 in the WAC, the second year in a row the Bulldogs have won their first three conference games. It marks the fourth time since Fresno State joined the WAC in 1992 that it has won its first three, the other occasions coming in 1995-96, 1996-97 and 2002-03. However, this year is the first time the Bulldogs have won two of those three on the road.
