South Florida Wins McCaffrey Classic Consolation Game

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Terrence Leather and Brian Swift scored 18 points apiece, leading South Florida to a 63-52 victory Saturday night over Grand Canyon in the consolation game of the McCaffrey Classic.

Leather scored 12 of his points in the second half when the Bulls finally put away their Division II opponent, shooting 9-of-12 and grabbing nine rebounds. The Bulls (5-2) also got eight assists from Swift and a career-high six blocks from Solomon Jones.

Prileu Davis had 15 points for Grand Canyon (4-4), while Emil Swain added 10.

Leading 23-21 at halftime, USF didn't pull away until a 12-5 scoring run late in the second half. Jones keyed the surge with three inside buckets, and Leather added two jumpers, the last of which pushed the Bulls ahead ahead 55-47 with 2:12 left.

The Antelopes got no closer than five points the rest of the way. South Florida shot 53.3 percent from the field, including 77.8 percent in the second half.
