FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State looks to keep things rolling Wednesday on the road against USC. The Bulldogs are a perfect 4-0 and are running a fast-paced offense that is averaging a WAC-high 79.0 points per game. The Trojans are 2-2, but the headlines about the team this week surround the firing of Henry Bibby, their head coach of nine years, on Monday. Tonight's game is being televised live back to the San Joaquin Valley by KFRE, with Ralph Wood and Randy Rosenbloom calling the action.
Fresno State's first two years under Ray Lopes were marked by tough, defensive-minded teams who scored only in the high-60's or low-70's. But this year's unit is much, much different. The Bulldogs enter tonight averaging a WAC-high 79.0 points and through four games have eclipsed the 80-point barrier three times. In Lopes' first two years with Fresno State, his team only surpassed 80 points in regulation four times.
Fresno State returns home following tonight's game to get ready for Saturday's 7 p.m. contest at the Save Mart Center against Sacramento State. The Bulldogs have beaten the Hornets 21 times in a row and are 24-0 against them all-time at home.
