Bulldogs Come Up Short Against Nevada

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Kirk Snyder scored a game-high 17 points to lead Nevada over Fresno State 64-55 on Friday night.
Todd Okeson added 11 points and five assists for Nevada (18-8, 11-5 Western Athletic Conference), which committed only six turnovers.
Mustafa Al-Sayyad scored 16 points to lead Fresno State (12-14, 8-8). Marcus West scored 12 and Shantay Legans added 11 points and nine assists for the Bulldogs, who struggled without three former starters suspended for the season.
Fresno State opened the second half with an 11-2 run that gave the Bulldogs a 35-31 lead. But Okeson hit a 3-pointer with 11:47 to play that put Nevada in front 40-38 and sparked an 11-0 Wolf Pack run. Fresno State never got closer than six points the rest of the way.
Nevada trailed by as many as seven points early in the game, but closed the first half with a 19-7 run that gave the Wolf Pack a 29-24 lead at halftime.
Despite leading all scorers, Snyder shot just 4-of-16 from the field. But he made 8-of-10 free throws. He hit a 3-pointer with 3:38 left in the first half to give Nevada its first lead of the game, 25-22.
Nevada shot only 36.4 percent from the field, but was 19-of-29 from the line. Fresno State went to the line only 14 times, hitting eight.
Fresno State has now lost four straight and nine of its last 12.
