Fresno State Finalizes 2004-05 Men's Hoops Roster

FRESNO, Calif. - With the start of the fall semester last week, Fresno State head basketball coach Ray Lopes has finalized the men's basketball roster for the 2004-05 season. Lopes will welcome eight "promising newcomers" to this year's squad, which include the following:

The arrival of seven high school recruits - Hector Hernandez, Dwight O'Neill, Donovan Morris, Dominique White, Chris Berry, Jose Sanchez and Carl Ross. Of these players, five hail from California, one from Colorado and one from Illinois.
The addition of former Washington Union High School standout JaVance Coleman, a sophomore who last year played for College of the Sequoias (Visalia, Calif.).
The return of three letterwinners - Mustafa Al-Sayyad, Jack Marlow and Dreike Bouldin.
In addition, two redshirt walk-ons return from last year's team - Chris Brazelton and M'Jumbe Williams. "This is a young, fresh group with a great attitude, tremendous focus and unusually good personal chemistry," Lopes said. "The team will be faster and more athletic than last year. Our style will be aggressive and up-tempo. I'm looking forward to starting the season with high energy and then building on that strength as the team matures together. We anticipate a great season. "We are also continuing to place a strong emphasis on academics. I am proud to say we had nine players enrolled in summer school, and they achieved a 3.07 grade point average." While preparing for the new season, Lopes determined that two players will not return. Seniors-to-be Marcus West and Francis Koffi did not meet the program's academic requirements and therefore cannot rejoin the Bulldog lineup. "We wish them success as they move on to other challenges," Lopes said. "Overall, the Bulldog program is focused on the new season. We are eager to start."
