TULSA, Okla. - Fresno State looks to get back in the win column Saturday at 11 a.m. PT against Tulsa. The Bulldogs, who enter 11-5 (5-2 WAC) and one game behind Nevada for first place in the league standings, were dropped 83-68 by Rice on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Golden Hurricane are struggling. They come in with a 3-12 (0-6) mark and are off to their worst start since the 1950-51 season. Tonight's game is being televised live back to the San Joaquin Valley by KFRE WB 59 (Comcast cable 5), with Ralph Wood and Randy Rosenbloom on the call.
Since Ray Lopes took over at Fresno State in 2003, his teams have been one of the toughest on the road. In fact, the Bulldogs have been the victim of just one WAC road sweep in his two-plus years. That one and only sweep came during the final two games of the 2002-03 season, just days after Fresno State self-imposed sanctions that included pulling itself out of postseason play. The Bulldogs fell on a buzzer-beater at Tulsa before losing by 21 at Rice.
Fresno State's three-game road stretch wraps up Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with a game at Nevada, which entered play today alone in first place in the WAC. The contest will be televised by KFRE WB 59.
