FRESNO, Calif. - Now closer to a WAC Tournament play-in game than the upper tier of the league standings, Fresno State begins a four-game homestand Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Tulsa. The Bulldogs (13-9, 7-6 WAC) have fallen on hard times lately, losing five of their last seven games, including a road trip sweet last week at UTEP and Boise State. And while the Golden Hurricane (6-15, 3-9) is currently in last place, they did defeat Fresno State 68-65 on Jan. 22 in Tulsa.
On Wednesday, Fresno State takes on a Tulsa team currently in last place in the WAC. And that can elicit just one response from Bulldog fans: Uh-oh. Fresno State hasn't had much success against cellar-dwellars this year, evidenced by a losses to Tulsa on Jan. 22 - which gave the Golden Hurricane their first WAC win - and then Saturday's 82-68 defeat at the hands of Boise State, who entered having lost five in a row. Amazingly, this is the same Bulldog squad who has posted victories over Nevada and UTEP, the WAC's top two teams.
Fresno State steps out of conference play Saturday for a Bracket Buster game at home against Buffalo at 4 p.m.
