FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State takes on Boise State tonight at 8:30 p.m. in a WAC Tournament semifinal game. The fourth-seeded Bulldogs (16-13, 9-9 WAC) snuck past Louisiana Tech yesterday 84-81 in overtime and tonight are taking on a Bronco team they split two games with this year. Boise State (15-17, 6-12) pulled off a stunner last night with its 73-72 victory over host, top-seeded and 24th-ranked Nevada. BSU is the tournament's No. 8 seed and is playing its third game in four nights. Tonight's game is being televised live by KFRE.
Last night, Fresno State picked up its first WAC Tournament victory since 2002. Tonight, the Bulldogs try to accomplish something they haven't done since 2000 - reach the league title game. In that '00 tournament, which Fresno State hosted, the team defeated Tulsa in the championship game, although all of those wins were later forfeited due to use of an ineligible player. That still marks the only time the Bulldogs have played in the WAC Tournament finals.
A win tonight moves Fresno State into the WAC Tournament title game tomorrow at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs will take on the winner of the UTEP/Rice contest.
