FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 24/18 Fresno State softball team picked up its second one-run victory in as many games when the Bulldogs posted a 3-2 win over Kent State at the Bulldog Classic presented by Bingham Toyota late Friday night.
Freshman left hander Amanda Nesbitt scattered six hits, allowed two runs, walked one and struck out five to improve to 2-0 on the year.
The Bulldogs hit two home runs this evening as junior All-America shortstop Christina Clark and sophomore left fielder Rachael Donaldson provided the long ball fun.
In the first, Clark hit a solo shot to left field to kick off the bottom half and tie the game at 1-1. In the sixth, Donaldson hit a monstrous shot that cleared the top level seats in the left field bleachers for her first of the season as she recorded the game-winning hit. The Bulldogs got their third run in the third when senior third baseman Leticia Pacheco picked up a one-out RBI single.
Fresno State (7-2) continues tournament play tomorrow afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Ole Miss and a 3:00 p.m. match up versus Santa Clara.
