Fresno, Calif. - Fresno State Volleyball makes their home debut with two matches this weekend, and special events and promotions abound. The Bulldogs begin with a match against Oregon on Friday evening at 7 p.m. in the North Gym, before making their annual stop at the 16,116 seat Save Mart Center Saturday at 8 p.m. In addition, fans purchasing a ticket for the Saturday match against Oregon will have the opportunity to watch the Fresno State football team play Oregon earlier that day on the Save Mart Center Jumbotron for free, starting at 4 p.m. In addition, two season-long ticket promotions will be held for the first time, the First 100 program and the Elementary program.
"I hope that some people new to Fresno State Volleyball will see this, that they will like the idea of the event, and take us up on the opportunity to enjoy two great sports," said head coach Ruben Nieves. "We're always looking for new ways to introduce people to Fresno State Athletics."
The program is also excited to announce two promotions designed to allow more fans as well as younger fans a chance to experience Fresno State Volleyball at a lower cost. The First 100 Club is a new promotion spearheaded by head coach Ruben Nieves. Under the new program the first 100 fans in line at a Fresno State home game, provided they are in line when the doors open one hour before game time, will receive a free ticket. Those fans should help to provide a great atmosphere in the gym prior to the match starting as both teams take the floor. These tickets will be available at every home match for Fresno State this season.
In addition, Fresno State Volleyball has introduced a second season-long promotion in 2005, aimed at getting younger fans involved in collegiate volleyball. All elementary school children 12 and younger who wear clothing identifying the school that they attend will receive a free admission for every home match this season.
"Our hope is that these ticket programs can create an incentive for our fans to arrive early to the arena," said Nieves. "With that support, it will help make an exciting atmosphere in the North Gym for our players and spectators. We also hope to get younger fans interested in our sport, and that too helps to create a fun and energetic atmosphere here at Fresno State."
