FRESNO, Calif. - Junior forward Quinton Hosley was named the XBOX LIVE Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week this morning after putting up stellar numbers on the court last week.
Helping the Bulldogs to a 1-1 worksheet, including a victory over preseason favorite Nevada, Hosley averaged a double-double with 26.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.
Shooting 50.0 percent from the field (17-34) and 57.1 percent beyond the arc (8-14), Hosley also made 11-of-13 (.846) free throws as he posted his ninth double-double on the year -- second most in the WAC this season.
In the win over Nevada, Hosley scored a game-high 35 points - his first career 30-point game -- to set a new arena record while becoming only the second Bulldog to score 30 or more points at the Save Mart Center. In addition, the 35-point performance tied for the 15th-highest scoring game in school history and is currently the highest scoring individual performance in the WAC this season. Against Nevada, Hosley went 10-14 from the field and 10-11 from the charity stripe while pulling down seven rebounds, four blocks and three steals. Versus the Wolf Pack, he had season-highs in points, field goals (10), 3-pointers (5) and blocks.
In Honolulu, he collected his ninth double-double of the year as he pulled down a game-best 16 rebounds while sharing team-high honors in scoring with 18 points in the eight point loss to Hawai'i.
Overall, Hosley has eight double-doubles in his last 13 games. In this 13-game stretch he is averaging 19.8 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 41.5 percent from the field and .458 from the free throw line to go along with 15 blocks and 33 steals.
