Bulldogs Win In Rout Of Louisiana Tech 2-0

Ruston, La. - Fresno State started off the first half of their initial conference road trip with a convincing win over Louisiana Tech 2-0. The Bulldogs outshot the Techsters 23-6, and held Louisiana Tech without a shot in goal as the team improved to 4-0-0 in conference play.
Fresno State got started quickly, sending their first two shots on goal. Forward Nicole Gutierrez got the offense started with a shot in the sixth minute, which was punched away, leading to a corner kick for the Bulldogs, the first of five for the team. The Bulldogs continued to press at the offensive end, with Lousiana Tech goaltender Jill Medigovich making her second save off of a header by Antonea Lugo, and a third ball off of the foot of Nicole Gutierrez was met for a header by Amanda Reyes in the 11th minute to put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0 on Reyes' first goal of the season.
Even though the Bulldogs didn't score in the remainder of the period, the flow of the game was clearly in their favor, as the team outshot the Techsters 13-1, and the lone shot for Louisiana Tech did not occur until the 31st minute, when Denise Wilson sent a shot over the bar.
Looking to put the game away in the second half, Sophomore forward Alison Sill had two early shots, and a header by Gutierrez was saved by Medigovicch in the 53rd minute. However, the Bulldogs put the game away at the 59:47 mark, as Antonea Lugo scored on a free kick past the wall following a Techster foul, putting the Bulldogs ahead 2-0.
Lugo led the team with five shots, with four on goal including her fourth goal of the season. Sill also contributed four shots, and both Rochelle Jagdeo and Cortney Sobrero had three as the Bulldogs controlled the game. Goaltenders Angie Larsen and Jeannette Paine combined for the shutout, the 11th of the season for the team.
Fresno State continues on the road with one more game this weekend, playing Utah State on Sunday, as the Bulldogs look to remain undefeated in conference play.
