Women's Tennis Loses 5-2 To Pepperdine

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team fell to 25th ranked Pepperdine 5-2, Friday in Malibu, Calif. The Bulldogs won the doubles point, however, were only able to win one match in singles play. Fresno State drops to 1-2 overall in the 2006 dual match season, while Pepperdine improved to 5-0.
"We know we're improving even though we lost a tough one today," said head coach Simon Thibodeau. "We've had some injuries and sicknesses, but we can't make excuses. We're on the right path, we just need to keep on improving."
The senior tandem of Lucia Sainz and Katharina Winterhalter improved to 18-4, 2-1 dual, in doubles play as they beat Asimgil/Kosakowski, 8-6. In singles, freshman Bruna Paes won her second consectuve match, defeating Asimgil 6-1, 6-4. Both sophomore Jacqueline Haskett and freshman Tinesta Rowe won a set, but were unable to clinch the victories.
Fresno State returns home to host Arizona on Feb. 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the Wathen Tennis Center.
