FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State (611), playing through heavy showers, shot a second-round 303 on Monday at the Diablo Grande Invitational to move into first place with five Bulldogs in the top 25.
Jonny Rosa (149) shot an even 72 and is in third place, four strokes behind the individual leader. Brian Kelley (75-80) is in 11th with 155, and Matt Shaw (79-77) is tied for 13th with 156. Ryan McDonald (83-74 - 157) improved by nine strokes in the second round to move to 17th place. Gunnar Avinelis is in 21st with rounds of 77-81 - 158. Nick McClintock (79-85), playing as an individual, is tied for 33rd with 164.
"We barely got in 18 holes today due to the horrendous weather," head coach Mike Watney said. "Jonny and Ryan's scores were tremendous considering the conditions they played through."
Cal Poly (612) is in second, one stroke behind Fresno State. Host Drake is in third with 616.
Tuesday's final round begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
