FRESNO, Calif. - Jason Anthony shot a 5-under 67 on Sunday at Arizona's National Invitational Tournament to lead Fresno State and enter Monday's second round in a tie for second place. The Bulldogs shot an opening-round 289 (+1), and are tied for eighth in a 15-team field that includes nine top-25 teams.
Anthony's round included seven birdies and two bogeys. He is two strokes behind UCLA's Erik Flores (65), the current leader.
Brian Kelley is tied for 17th after shooting a 2-under 70, a round in which he opened with four straight birdies.
Ryan McDonald and Jonny Rosa both shot 76 (+4) are tied for 71st. Matt Shaw (T79th) registered 78 (+6).
UCLA (277/-11) has the team lead, followed by Arizona State (-10) who is in second.
